In the coming months, we are going to spotlight The Violet Group's extraordinary team!
Our social media manager, Courtney, spent some time with each of our team members to learn more about their story, skills, and favorite moments of the year.
So far we've spotlighted Tiara Ward and Adela Orellana. Now, it's time to spotlight TVG's Senior Consultant and Executive Coach Catherine Savage, PhD. As a senior consultant and coach at TVG, Catherine has spent her career understanding the unique needs associated with various leadership positions and helping leaders adapt and leverage their strengths to excel in their roles. She is passionate about helping leaders, particularly those who are transitioning roles or taking on greater responsibility, uncover what is required to ensure continued success. She approaches coaching with a genuine desire to help leaders who aspire to achieve excellence.
Let's learn more about Cat...
Q: Cat, what's a book, podcast, or movie that has had a significant impact on you and why?
I really enjoy the podcast "How I Built This" with Guy Raz. He interviews well-known entrepreneurs and businesses to learn how they built their companies.
I find it so fascinating to hear from these really successful companies and from these successful individuals who took risks and truly believed in their ideas. Everyone's story is a little bit different and unique to them, with a focus on the mindset required to make key decisions for their companies.
Q: Who's a person that has inspired you and had a big impact on your life?
A: My grandma was a big inspiration in my life. She grew up when tuberculosis was around and she had it 3 times throughout her life. She lived until she was 90! She drove until she was 90 and was still very alert and with it.
She was a spit-fire. She could be very direct and straight-forward - I always heard stories about her not letting people push her around. She was so independent and confident.
Q: What's one skill or talent you have that isn't directly related to your job, but you're really proud of?
A: I think I'm pretty artistic, more than people realize. I created a comic strip for one of our projects.
[We can attest to this. Cat's presence on TVG's 'Team Aesthetics' highlights her impressive artistic and creative abilities!]
Q: What has been your favorite moment with TVG this year?
A: The trip to London was a lot of fun, and a really good team building effort.
Q: If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?
A: Jane Goodall. She is a primatologist, anthropologist, and activist; she is committed to protecting natural habitats and teaching humans how to interact with animals. Growing up, I loved monkeys and I admired her because she studied chimpanzees for a really long time.
I think she's so fascinating. She led me to want to go to Africa and do gorilla trekking.
Q: What's a hobby or interest of yours that might surprise your colleagues?
A: I used to be on a bowling league with my parents. I even had my own bowling ball and bowling shoes. And kissing my dog's Rosie's face!
