What happens when your social media manager needs to do a spotlight post on your firm's social media manager?

Well, you interview yourself and ask your boss to say a few words to tee up the spolight (at least that's how we tackled it at TVG).

So, before I talk about myself, I'll have Stefanie, our co-founder and President say a few words...

Okay, Stefanie here. I suppose we could have simply pretended that someone else was interviewing Courtney, but that's not really our style at TVG. We value transparency too much for that.

I have loved learning a bit more about each our TVG team members through this Spotlight series and I'm excited for you to learn more about Courtney too.

As our Social Media Manager and a leadership consulting intern, Courtney does a little bit of everything to help our firm thrive. Since joining us in early 2023, she has adapted, learned, and evolved in many ways.

She is a curious, thoughtful, and collaborative colleague who adds value by asking good questions, weighing in our firm's big questions, and bringing levity and fun to our onsites and discussions.

She's a joy to have on the team and I just know you'll enjoy getting to know her on a deeper level through this spotlight.

By the way, as you may have noticed, Courtney is also my sister. If you've worked with a family member (or had your sister as a boss), then you know how complex those dynamics can be...

Courtney and I? I think we've navigated it exceptionally well.

Now, let's learn more about me (Courtney!)...

Q: What's a book, podcast, or movie that has had a significant impact on you and why?

A: It's so hard to pick just one! I love all things media, so I could have many answers for this one, but I would say the movie Interstellar by Christopher Nolan has had the biggest impact on me. I'm passionate about watching films and movies, and this one is one of my all-time favorites.

Interstellar is about Earth's last chance to find a habitable planet before a lack of resources causes the human race to go extinct. It's emotional, visually-appealing, and has such an interesting premise.

It came out in 2012, and the visuals were so impressive at the time (and still are!). It gets better every rewatch, if you haven't seen it yet - it's a must watch.

Q: Who's a person that has inspired you and had a big impact on your life?

A: Similar to what one my colleagues responded, my family as a whole has had the biggest impact on my life. It's hard to choose just one because they've all taught me so much and impacted me in their own ways.

We've been through so much together, and rather than pushing each other away, we became stronger. I can't thank them enough and couldn't imagine life without them!

Q: What's one skill or talent you have that isn't directly related to your job, but you're really proud of?

A: One skill or talent I have is that I'm imaginative, but also logical. I like to have 'my head in the clouds' a bit, but am also able to ground myself when needed. I've always been imaginative and it's something that I hope to always be. I think it's easy to lose that side of us when we enter adulthood.

Imagination is so powerful - don't forget to use it every once in awhile!

Q: What has been your favorite moment with TVG this year?

A: My favorite moment with TVG this year was our in-person event we ran in March. We were able to come together as a collective and utilize our unique strong-suits.

We put so much hard work, love, and planning into the event and it was a testament to how well we work as a team.

Q: If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?

A: I would like to have dinner with my maternal grandmother, Violet.

She was such a powerful woman, and she sadly passed when I was 13. I'd love to have dinner with her as my adult self, so I could ask all the unanswered questions I have. I'd ask about her childhood, her dreams, and just get to know her on a deeper level. (If I could pick 2, I'd love to sit down with Stevie Nicks. She's such an interesting musician and human!)

Q: What's a hobby or interest of yours that might surprise your colleagues?

A: I really love to cook and get creative in the kitchen. I don't know if I'm necessarily that skilled of a cook, but I just enjoy it. I like going in with a loose plan, and just seeing how it turns out. Making pasta is my favorite because I like to experiment with homemade pasta sauces, there's so much adaptability in this dish!

Growing up, I always enjoyed cooking with my dad. He used to be a chef and can cook ANYTHING. Someday I hope to be the type of cook he is, but for now I'm having fun with it.

I'm so happy to be a part of the TVG team!
