Writer's picture: Courtney MocklerCourtney Mockler

In the coming months, we are going to spotlight The Violet Group's extraordinary team!

Our social media manager, Courtney, spent some time with each of our team members to learn more about their story, skills, and favorite moments of the year.

In the first post of this series, we spotlighted Tiara Ward. To catch up, click here.

Now, it's time to spotlight Adela Orellana!

Adela is our Director of Client Services, and with over two decades of experience in the dynamic field of advertising, Adela brings a wealth of expertise to every project. Throughout her career, she has cultivated a deep understanding of client needs allowing her to develop and implement successful strategies. Her role at TVG involves fostering strong client relationships, overseeing project delivery, and ensuring overall satisfaction.

Let's learn more about Adela...

Q: Adela, what's a book, podcast, or movie that has had a significant impact on you and why?

A: The two movies that have really stuck with me are Roots & Schindler's list. I think about these two movies a lot.

Human beings can be incredibly cruel, and injustices still occur, unfortunately. We've evolved and made progress in many ways, but in others, we still have a long way to go. I enjoy watching documentaries and movies based on real-life stories—they offer a glimpse into our world.

Q: Who's a person that has inspired you and had a big impact on your life?

A: My best friend growing up, Alexis, is a first-generation of Mexican descent. I've always looked up to her and she's been my role model because of how intelligent and fascinating she is. Growing up with strict parents, I was limited in what I could do, but Alexis would often sleep over, giving us nights to ourselves. Although we don't see each other as often now, whenever we do, it's like no time has passed.

We can talk about anything and pick up right where we left off. We've always stayed in touch, and I know I can always go to her with questions because she naturally has all the answers.

Q: What's one skill or talent you have that isn't directly related to your job, but you're really proud of?

A: Being bi-lingual, in Spanish and English. I don't even have to think about it; I can easily switch it on and off.

Q: What has been your favorite moment with TVG this year?

A: Two moments come to mind. The first was our first all-day team on-site, where we all went in and took pictures. We didn't know what to expect or what we were getting ourselves into, but we were all excited and ready for it! The second was the trip to London we took six months into the TVG launch.

It provided so much time for team connection, laughing, and learning about each other!

Q: If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?

A: God or dinner with my maternal grandma one more time. We were so close and I talk to her all the time. She had 14 children and was always so loving and caring, she had SO much love for everyone.

Her hugs were the best, and she taught us how to bake without ever using a true recipe—just a pinch of this and a pinch of that.

She was such a interesting woman, and I miss her so much.

Q: What's a hobby or interest of yours that might surprise your colleagues?

A: I love latin dancing/salsa dancing. I actually met my husband salsa dancing! He's a great dancer, even this past Friday we danced in the kitchen together. Also, I love bike riding - I like to do that on the weekends. [It's true - Adela is an amazing dancer. You'll always have a blast around her!]

We're so happy to have you as a part of our team, Adela!
